On July 7, 2005 The Dallas Morning News reported, "North Texas Muslims joined in condemning Thursday's bombing attacks in London that killed dozens and injured hundreds.

However, they added that they know suspicion probably will once again fall on their faith...Muslims around the area and the nation... wanted to make it clear that acts that may be committed by extremist Muslims are not representative of their religion.

A group of about 10 Muslim organizations in North Texas issued a statement Thursday afternoon, saying: 'DFW Muslims offer their sincere condolences to the loved ones of the victims of today's attacks. We call for the swift arrest and punishment of the criminals responsible for these bombings'... But Muslims in the Dallas area said they are very much aware that despite their condemnations, some people will continue to view Islam and all Muslims with suspicion.

'I'm already getting reports about a backlash in and around London, and this morning I myself got one hate e-mail,' said Saffia Meek, office manager of the D-FW chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Mr. Elmougy said that since Sept. 11, 2001, Muslims have almost come to expect such a reaction after a terrorist act."
