On June 5, 2003 Community Free Press reported that "when Crescent Academy International opened in Canton [OH] in 1991, the 115 students came from all four directions... Each day, the school's two buses brought in students from Livonia, Northville, Ann Arbor and Dearborn. In fact, the academy's site on Palmer Road in Canton was chosen for its proximity to both I-94 and I-275, said school director David Tauhidi... Now busing is a thing of the past. Most of the academy's current 270 students live in Canton and Plymouth, and many of them moved here because of the Muslim school, Tauhidi said... As the community grows, Crescent Academy also is growing. This summer construction will begin on a 70,000-square-foot addition... Presently, the complex on Palmer Road has an 11,000-square-foot mosque and 20,000-square-foot school building. Students who attend the school use six classrooms in the main building, and eight portable buildings that have been in use since 1994. The school is for grades preschool through eighth... The three-level addition, with a glass atrium in the entry, will create 33 new classrooms. Plans also call for adding a gym and combination auditorium/cafeteria, as well as library space."
