On August 8, 2004 Calgary Sun reported, "Former air force captain David Krayden is on a mission some might consider controversial and others even unforgivable. The newly appointed national chairman of the Concerned Christians Canada organization wants to get Christians of all denominations actively involved in politics. And he wants to get MPs who have Christian values to espouse them at all times and bring them into focus on policy debates and in parliamentary votes -- a notion politicians such as Prime Minister Paul Martin, former prime minister Jean Chretien, and another former (If short-lived) prime minister, Joe Clark, would find unacceptable. 'These individuals and others like them say their faith is separate from their political duties,' [Clark said.] 'They say they leave their faith at the doors of the House of Commons. When, to me that suggests a certain lack of personal integrity, and a whole lot of hypocrisy.' That assessment, too, is the view of Calgary Roman Catholic Bishop Fred Henry, who has chastised the likes of Clark for claiming to be practising Roman Catholics while ignoring the church's stand on issues such as abortion and homosexuality. 'There is no other religious group in Canada that has been told, as have Christians, they have to forget about their values when they enter politics or that they shouldn't get politically involved,' [Henry said]. 'Indeed, there would be outrage, and rightfully so, if a Muslim, Hindu or Sikh of any other politician were told their faith could not influence their roles as politicians. So why are Christians singled out for discrimination?' He notes the abuse Preston Manning and Stockwell Day suffered for their Christian beliefs would never be tolerated if aimed at a member of another religion."
