On May 31, 2006 the Quad-City Times reported, "A spokesman for the Clinton Islamic Centers says he hopes the apparent throwing of a boot through the sign in front of the center last week was just a simple case of vandalism. The broken sign was discovered Friday morning in front of the center, 1500 2nd Ave. S., and reported to the Clinton Police Department. A police report estimated the damage at $200. Dr. Qaiser Rasheed, spokesman for the center, said a neighbor reported hearing squealing tires early Friday. He said the center never has had problems with vandalism and enjoys a good relationship with the community. 'We’ve never had any problems here, only positive sentiments,' he said. Rasheed said the center often sponsors programs that are open to the public, and its members are very open about answering questions about their beliefs. He said he had received some phone calls since the incident from people offering their sympathy. 'We’ve had very good feedback from the people,' he said. 'We hope this is just vandalism.'"
