Residents in Vancouver’s Landover-Sharmel neighborhood will have to go to court if they want to continue their fight against a large Sikh temple proposed for their area.
The city council voted unanimously Monday night to affirm a hearings examiner’s decision for converting the former Landover Athletic Club, 13400 N.E. 20th St., into a temple.
The neighborhood association raised two specific issues in its council appeal: the project’s traffic study did not consider Sundays, the date when the temple would receive its heaviest use; or that the fire hydrant serving the site is not up to code and would create a dangerous condition if the church were to serve meals for 150 people or more.
