Cake and drinks attracted a group of teens to a meeting they didn’t know was about a graduation interfaith service.
When Grade 12 students Mohanad Khairy, Warda Limaye, Sarah Coley and Becky Selig left the meeting at Citadel High School in Halifax, they were convinced it was a good thing to do.
On Tuesday night, a few weeks of planning will result in a service that offers greater understanding of others and a chance to focus on the completion of one phase of life and the start of another.
"We’re so caught up in material things, goals, what we’re doing after high school, that we forget why we’re really here and what we’re really doing," says Mohanad. "You can’t forget your Creator and the boundaries you live by."
The 7 p.m. service in the cafeteria is open to the public, but organizers hope their peers will be the main attendees.
