On August 8, 2004 Crosswalk News reported that a "Presidential Prayer Team has just launched an initiative called Pray the Vote designed to encourage, motivate and exhort believers across the country to pray daily for God’s will to be done through this election. According to President and CEO John Lind, the goal of the Presidential Prayer Team, when it launched after the tragedy of 9/11, was to encourage people to pray daily for the President. From there it broadened to include other leaders in the United States and military personnel. Most recently, says Lind, members have called to ask what they can do during this election... Lind points out that the Pray the Vote website has all the resources people need to get started, including the history of voting, ideas on how to engage your community in prayer for the election, and ways to participate in Virtual Prayer Rallies on Oct. 5 and Nov. 1."
