On November 16, 2004 Washington Times reported, "federal indictments unsealed Tuesday charge two New York men with threatening members of the Islamic Center of America in Detroit. The indictments accuse Michael Bratisax and John Barnett of sending threatening e-mails on different occasions from their home computers in New York to the Islamic Center of America with intent to threaten Muslims in the free exercise of their religion. The government alleges the men threatened to kill Muslims in response to events in the Middle East. The Justice Department said in order to win convictions it must show the e-mails constituted a 'true threat' that a reasonable recipient would view seriously."
