On January 24, 2004 the Toronto Star reported, "Census data released this year has allowed us to create a religious map of the Greater Toronto Area showing clusters of religious beliefs, neighbourhood by neighbourhood. It shows that religious affiliation is still a glue that binds people, along with common language, culture and country of origin. The census did not ask if people were active in their religious communities, but only what their religion was, even if they were not practising members. While Catholics, Jews, Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims make their homes across the city, many have congregated in specific neighbourhoods."
