A Buddhist congregation aiming to expand its facility was blocked Tuesday by county officials who cited public safety as the chief concern about the development.
The cozy, 20-person congregation wanted to expand its temple on a rural site north of Pelahatchie.
"We're sad about it," congregation member Ai Mai said of the Rankin County Board of Supervisors' unanimous denial of the conditional-use request.
