For 19 years, the Brockton Interfaith Community has worked to make Brockton a better place to live and work.

More recently, the faith-based organization has worked to address the city’s foreclosure crisis, has built affordable housing on city streets, and has pushed for more summer jobs and after school programs for city youth, among other projects.

The organization includes members of 20 churches and a synagogue and plans to continue its tradition of community organizing as it enters its second decade in Brockton, Janine Carreiro, lead organizer for Brockton Interfaith Community, said Thursday.

“It’s more about bringing people together around issues and concerns, researching solutions and then trying to see those solutions through,” Carreiro said.
