On October 22, 2005 the Hindustan Times reported, "Diwali celebration at Parliament House has now become an annual feature, much looked forward to be both by the Indian community and ministers, Peers and MPs. This time too on October 27, the Hindu Forum of Britain and 11 British Parliamentarians will co-host the fourth annual Diwali reception at the House of Commons on October 27 in a festival featuring colourful Indian dances, festive music, costumed artistes, Indian food displays. The Hall's huge floor will be decorated with rangoli patterns.

The traditional earthen lamps, prayers, Sanskrit chanting and Hindu Deities there during the evening will transform the normally sober Members' Dining Room at the Commons into a riot of colour. Guests at the reception will include over 100 Parliamentarians, ministers and cabinet secretaries, diplomats, businesspersons, community leaders and civil servants.

In a message to the Hindu Forum of Britain, Prime Minister Tony Blair said, 'This festival has an important role. It gives every one of us a chance to reflect on the important contribution that your communities are making to Britain's success. This is something for us all to celebrate.'

Diwali is one festival, which is celebrated with great pomp and festivities by 700,000 Hindus in Britain."
