The borough's Muslim community and Borough President James P. Molinaro disagree on some critical issues, but the two set aside their differences at Borough Hall's first-ever Iftar dinner.

Iftar is the evening meal during which Muslims break their daily fast during the month of Ramadan. Around 50 people from the Island's five mosques attended Wednesday's event, staged in a Borough Hall conference room.

Hesham El-Meligy, a founding member of the Building Bridges Coalition, said the event was significant, given the growing number of Muslims on Staten Island.
