On June 1, 2003 the Journal of the American Academy of Religion published a book review of From Eden to Armageddon: The Future of World Religions, Violence, and Peacemaking by Marc Gopin. The review stated that "Gopin recommends... methods of conflict resolution... that can enable a 'hermeneutically reworked sense of religious identity'... The key factor is 'how one's group negotiate[s] the boundaries between self and Other,'... 'this murky space between war and peace where people and civilization really make the fateful decision to humanize or dehumanize the Other.'"
