For award-winning author Carrie Brown-Wolf, Soul Sundays have been a lifelong process. What are Soul Sundays? Brown-Wolf, the author of “Soul Sunday: A Family's Guide to Exploring Faith and Teaching Tolerance,” sees them as a time in which inter-faith families can explore everyday issues in regard to their religious faith.
Brown-Wolf, who was raised in the Toledo area, will give a book signing and seminar at the Olivet Lutheran Church on June 13. Her book was recently awarded the Indie Excellence Award for Parenting/Family book of the year.
“Because my husband is Jewish and I'm Lutheran, we decided to create a special time for our family to talk about our differences, world religions and cultures, identity, and values,” Brown-Wolf said. Our three kids really love it, and we've now been doing Soul Sunday with them for 6 years. It's been great for our family, communication and self-esteem. Friends began asking what we were doing as an interfaith couple a few years ago. We told them about Soul Sunday, and many asked for ideas. That's when I decided to actually write it down and create a book.”
