On August 6, 2005 the Rockford Register Star reported, "Judy Moe remembers a time when every mention of her faith -- Baha'i -- was followed by the same question: 'What's that?' While some people remain unfamiliar about the independent religion's humane mission, Baha'is have become more visible here since Moe came to Rockford three decades ago. Not only does the community see Baha'is involved in various interfaith events and their own Race Unity Awards, but their population is growing, too. Next week, Baha'is from as far away as Racine, Wis., will gather to celebrate the establishment of the area's second and third Baha'i congregations... The number of Baha'is in the Rock River Valley has grown, but they still represent only a tiny portion of the area's overall population. There are about 100 Baha'is here. To put it in perspective, there are 153,000 Baha'is in America, while there are nearly triple that number of Catholics in the Rockford Diocese alone."
