Award to Boost Religious Tolerance

Preston's religious organisations are celebrating after receiving a £48,000 windfall from the government.

The Department for Communities and Local Government is handing out funding to groups to help promote citizenship in their local area.

Four groups in the city have all been given cash from the Community Development Foundation.

The Deepdale-based Preston Muslim Forum received £3,000 and the Preston Muslim Society, also in Deepdale, has been given £5,000.

Fishergate Baptist Church in the city centre has been handed £5,000 and the Preston Multi-Faith Forum has been awarded £20,000.
