On November 9, 2005 the Government News Network reported, "The Armed Forces are to stage an awareness day at Sikh temples in Manchester as part of a drive to boost the number of recruits from the ethnic minorities. The Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army, in conjunction with Jobcentre Plus (Specialist Employment Programme), will showcase a range of careers and opportunities currently available to young men and women at two events on Tuesday, November 15... Up to 400 young people are expected to attend the events where they will have the opportunity to talk to serving personnel about their various roles in the armed forces. Among the attractions on the day will be the Royal Navy's recruitment trailer which boasts an array of high-impact action films and a selection of fun brain teasers which together aim to showcase daily life in the Senior Service. Petty Officer Joyce Iwediebo, Diversity Recruitment Manager, said: 'The events promise to be an excellent way for young people to find out about the wide variety of jobs available in the three Services and to see first-hand how the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army operate as equal opportunity employers. 'Both events will be very informal and anyone wanting to learn more about the exciting career opportunities we offer can just drop in on the day.'"
