On August 14, 2004 the East Valley Tribune reported, "The Rev. Paul Eppinger, the founder and driving force behind the Arizona Interfaith Movement, wants to see the Valley host the next Parliament of The World’s Religions, slated for 2009. It may be a long shot, admitted Eppinger, just returned from Barcelona, Spain, where the movement’s delegation of six gave a presentation to the fourth Parliament and joined more than 8,000 delegates from 75 nations. 'We are going to be inviting the Parliament to come here to the Valley in 2009,' he said. Patterned after the first Parliament that was part of the Chicago’s World Fair in 1893, it was reconvened 100 years later in Chicago. Subsequent gatherings have been in 1999 in Cape Town, South Africa, then July 7-13 this year in Barcelona."
