On May 24, 2004 The Toledo Blade reported, "The Arab-American community in Ohio needs to organize a far-reaching voter-registration campaign and encourage its members to go to the polls in November, representatives from two Arab-American advocacy groups said yesterday. The two urged more than 150 people who gathered at the University of Toledo Law School to ignore anti-Arabic and anti-Islamic viewpoints that they believe are espoused in the media and by government officials. Hussein Ibish, communications director for the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, based in Washington, fell short of endorsing John Kerry for the presidency, but made clear his opinion of President Bush. 'Voting for the President is not an option for our community,' Mr. Ibish said. 'When it comes to policies on Palestine or Israel, you can't expect better from Senator Kerry.'"
