On May 4, 2004 The Kansas City Star reported, "The first Thursday of every year is set aside for National Day of Prayer as a time to pray for the country and its leaders. This year's theme, 'Let Freedom Ring,' is taken from Leviticus 25:10, 'proclaim liberty throughout this land and to all its inhabitants.' This year's celebrations will take place Thursday in communities in all 50 states. People will gather to pray not only in churches but also at state capitols, county court houses, the steps of city halls and other locations."
