A national convention to mark the centenary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community began yesterday with a call on Muslims to contribute to the global effort to reduce hunger and poverty, which are the enemies of mankind.

President J.A. Kufuor, who made the call at Pomadze near Winneba, further asked the Muslim community in Ghana to also play a pivotal role towards the creation of a peaceful and harmonious country.

Addressing the opening session of the three-day convention of Ahmadis, the President said since mankind had a common father, issues about race, geographic locations and religion should not cause any disruptions in life.

The three-day convention is on the theme: “Love for All, Hatred for None”, and it is being attended by the Supreme Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, as well as delegates from other African countries.
