History
Swami Satprakashananda, who also founded the Vedanta Society of St. Louis in 1938, founded the Vedanta Society of Kansas City, Missouri, in 1947. The oldest Vedanta Society in the United States, founded by Swami Vivekananda in 1894, is in New York City. There are fifteen centers in the United States.Leadership
The current spiritual teacher for the Vedanta Society of Kansas City is Swami Chetanananda. He teaches primarily at the Vedanta Society of St. Louis and visits Kansas City about eight weeks per year.Activities and Schedule
