About half of U.S. adults have looked for a new religious congregation at some point in their lives, most commonly because they have moved. And when they search for a new house of worship, a new Pew Research Center study shows, Americans look first and foremost for a place where they like the preaching and the tone set by the congregation’s leaders.

USPS Set to Release Postage Stamps Commemorating Diwali – World Religion News

USPS FOREVER STAMP HONORS THE HINDU FESTIVAL DIWALI.

In an act that showcases America’s religious harmony and cultural equality, the U.S. Postal Service will be issuing a special “Diwali Forever” stamp to commemorate the Hindu festival of Diwali. America has a sizable number of Hindus, Sikhs and adherents of other Indian religions. Diwali being a festival common to all of them, the Postal Department saw it as apt to issue stamps that would be representative of the nation’s participation in the celebrations of the communities.

78% of U.S. Religious ‘Nones’ were Raised in Religious Homes – World Religion News

NEW RESEARCH SAYS RELIGIOUS HOMES PRODUCE THE MAJORITY OF RELIGIOUS ‘NONES.’

The results of new research by Pew can come as an eye-opener to a number of religious households. 78 percent of religious “nones” say they were raised in highly religious families. In other words, if you are very religious and are trying hard to indoctrinate your child into religious beliefs, the chances statistically are that your child might grow up to hate it and leave religion altogether. Religious households may now have to change tactics if they want to see their children grow up as practicing believers.

Today, however, there is a separation of state and religion, so that religion does not enjoy the kind of hold over all human activities today as it once did. Despite this, religion still affects the world in many ways, and happens to be one of the most discussed, speculated and controversial issues in the 21st century.
