16 BOMB THREAT CALLS WERE MADE TO JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTERS ACROSS THE U.S. MONDAY.

Bomb threats had been reported on Monday at various Jewish Community Centers located across multiple U.S. states. According to the authorities, there is no clear information on whether the threats were in some way connected.

Advocates for Religious Freedom Split on Views of LGBT Issues – World Religion News

ORTHODOX CHRISTIANS AND LIBERALS HARBOR DIFFERENT VIEWS ON GAY RIGHTS.

Influential conservative Christians in the United States, comprised of leaders from almost 90 churches, evangelical seminaries, ministries and publications, of both Orthodox and Catholic clergy, have signed a statement which rejects any kind of legal efforts to protect Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity or SOGI. They believe the proposed SOGI laws threaten basic freedoms. The writings were part of the campaign titled “Preserve Freedom, Reject Coercion” by Colson Center for Christian Worldview.

Since Trump’s Election, Sanctuary Churches Have Doubled – World Religion News

MORE CHURCHES HAVE BECOME SANCTUARIES FOR MUSLIMS AFTER TRUMP WON THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN NOVEMBER.

A coalition of faith communities referred to as the PICO National Network reported that the number of church sanctuaries offering refuge to people under threat of being deported from the U.S. has grown to 800. This comes in the wake of Donald Trump’s presidential election victory, after he campaigned on anti-immigrant rhetoric and promised to deport 2-3 million immigrants as soon as he came into power. The faith communities are largely Christian but have signaled intent to partner with the Islamic community to provide sanctuary to Muslims who have also come under attack by Trump’s Islamophobic rhetoric.

Trump Will Be Sworn In With Same Bible As Lincoln And Obama

For all their differences, when Donald Trump takes the oath of office to succeed Barack Obama on Friday, one small but symbolic similarity will be on display. Trump will place his hand on the Bible that President Lincoln used at his first inauguration, the same one President Obama used at both of his swearing in ceremonies.

MOROCCAN GOVERNMENT AIMS AT STEPPING UP NATIONAL SECURITY BY BANNING THE FULL VEIL; HIJABS STILL ALLOWED.

The government of Morocco has taken its fight against Islamic extremism to a new height by banning the full veil all across the country. So far, no formal rule has been there forcing women to wear the full veil. Muslim women in Morocco have only been wearing the hijab without covering their faces. However, the full veil has been followed by women in more conservative regions of the African country.

In sign of resolve, Pope taps O’Malley for Vatican office handling abuse cases

Boston’s Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley, who sits on the council of cardinal advisers who help Pope Francis in the reform of the Roman Curia, and who leads the Commission for the Protection of Minors, was appointed on Saturday to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in what some will see as a sign of resolve in the fight against clerical sexual abuse.
