Stephen Epstein, a professional photographer for more than two decades, prepared slide shows depicting the religious diversity of Toronto. Toronto, Canada’s largest city, has tremendous ethnic diversity with almost half the population born outside the country. Stephen is working in partnership with the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews (CCCJ), with the aim of producing a book. He covered all kinds of religious life, from communal religious services to personal individual religious events, in the full range of religious traditions found in Toronto.
Rev. Dr. Karen Anne Hamilton, the General Secretary of the Canadian Council of ChurchesThe term church has come to wide use to refer to the organized and gathered religious community. In the Christian tradition, church refers to the organic, interdependent “body” of Christ’s followers, the community of Christians. Secondarily, church ... and a governor of the CCCJ, served as Stephen’s advisor on this project.
