Omar Haque was a student at Brown University when he documented the history of IslamIslam in Arabic literally means “submitting” or “submission.” One who submits or surrenders his or her will to God is called a Muslim. Omar worked in collaboration with student researchers involved in the Brown University Multifaith Council. He also worked with Gregory McGonigle, a student researcher from Harvard Divinity School studying the religious diversity of Rhode Island.
